Professor Audrey
Heining-Boynton honors FLANC by delivering the 2008 keynote address.
Currently Professor of Foreign Language Education and English as a
Second Language at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she is one of the nation’s top educators in the field. Professor Heining-Boynton was President of ACTFL during the 2005 Year of Languages and has written numerous textbooks for different age groups, ranging from the middle and high school series ¡En español! to the college program ¡Atrévete! She publishes regularly in journals such as the Modern Language Journal and the Foreign Language Annals and is in high demand as a conference speaker and consultant. A teacher of teachers, she was honored in 2003 with the ACTFL Anthony Papalia Award for Excellence in Teacher Education. Professor Heining-Boynton is well known in her adopted home state of North Carolina principally for having mentored a generation of foreign language teachers, for having been a FLANC Teacher of the Year (and past board member), and for giving generously of her personal time and money to the advancement of foreign languages in North Carolina. We look forward to hearing from her on October 10th.
