FLANC Interim Executive Director (Part-Time, Contractual Position)
The Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC) is seeking a part-time Interim Executive Director for the 2025-2026 term. The selected candidate will serve in this role from March 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, with the goal of transitioning into the permanent Executive Director position on April 1, 2026.
This role provides an opportunity to work closely with the current Executive Director and FLANC Board to support and advance the organization's mission while ensuring a seamless transition into leadership.
Essential Duties of the Interim Executive Director:
The Interim Executive Director will work under the guidance of the current Executive Director to fulfill duties necessary for FLANC’s success. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
✅ Representation & Leadership
Represent and promote FLANC’s mission and best interests in accordance with organizational bylaws and policies.
Report to and collaborate with the Executive Director unless otherwise directed by the Executive Board.
✅ Training & Conference Participation
Attend the Best of FLANC Spring Conference and shadow the Executive Director (see full list of Executive Director duties).
Receive training on Growth Zone (FLANC’s association management platform) and complete assigned tasks within the system.
Participate in virtual meetings with the Executive Director, beginning in April 2025, to discuss 2025 Fall Conference planning and Growth Zone tasks.
Attend and shadow the Executive Director at the FLANC Fall Conference 2025 and SCOLT 2026 Conference.
✅ Board Engagement
Attend all Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, beginning April 2025.
Qualifications & Skills:
✅ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
✅ Excellent communication and professional demeanor
✅ Ability to think strategically, collaborate effectively, and adapt as needed
✅ Proficiency in Word, Excel, Growth Zone (or similar association software)
✅ Ability to analyze data to prioritize and align with FLANC’s goals
✅ Familiarity with North Carolina’s language education landscape (preferred)
✅ Residency in North Carolina (preferred)
Education Requirements:
📌 Bachelor’s degree in a field related to FLANC’s mission
📌 Knowledge of World Languages, Dual Language/Immersion, and Education is preferred
