Heather Tedder - FLANC 2020 K-12 Teacher of the Year

Heather Tedder is the recipient of FLANC 2020's Teacher of the Year (K-12) Award. Heather Tedder believes that learning languages is the premier way to learn about other cultures. Her biggest desir89e for her students is to show them how they fit into the French-speaking world. Her teaching philosophy is straightforward: get her students to talk; unlock cultures with authentic resources; teach by the modes for proficiency; and use French inside and outside of the classroom. Ultimately, she wants to dazzle her students with French and Francophone language and cultures to make them lifelong learners of French! Congratulations, Heather!

Yasuko Rallings - FLANC 2020 Higher Education Teacher of the Year

Yasuko Rallings is the recipient of FLANC 2020's Teacher of the Year (Higher Ed) Award. Yasuko Rallings believes an essential part of education is human interaction. Yasuko said that during her Japanese language classes, she derives great satisfaction from students in a community when learning is happening through engagement and class interaction. She also mentioned that her overall objective is not only to teach Japanese well, but also to challenge her students to become fully engaged and responsible learners. Congratulations, Yasuko!
